Whitefish is an MPD settlement, a walled community of six large homes in northernmost Rivertown North.

Location

Whitefish is in the furthest north MPD settlement in Rivertown, roughly 2.5 miles north along the winding lakeshore path from Mansion Inn on the banks of Lake Lawrence.

History

Whitefish Estates, an elite gated community near the northern border of Rivertown, was once the home of Carlo Reyes and other very affluent residents of the city. Reyes and some of his neighbors attempted to repel rioters and looters, aided by their homes' state of the art defense systems. Such systems were designed to repel intruders, not a seige, and Reyes feared they would be overrun, tortured, and killed. They barred entrance to their home as best they could, set the security system to its most aggressive setting, and headed to the Rock, where he's gotten word a small group of cops and security guards had holed up.

In 2106, ten years after Project Unification and the establishment of Mansion Inn, Carlo Reyes commissioned a team of special ops to scout out his old home at Whitefish. The team violently cleared out squatters from three homes in the gated community (including the Reyes dwelling) but discovered that the three other houses appeared untouched. The defense system opened fire from the rooftops, severly wounding one guard, before they could access the panel to punch in the security code Reyes had given them. They discovered these three homes had never been breached and still looked exactly as they had the night Reyes and the others fled seventeen years earlier.

Reyes invited four other families and a group of twelve guards to settle at Whitefish in a move that angered the other members of the Four Families, seeing this as splintering the MPD's power. Reyes rebuffed their complaints by claiming the new settlement could sustain itself off a small inventory he had created even before the superflu epidemic. Fearing it could spark a civil war Augustus Reichman allowed him to move, but it drove a wedge between Reyes and the other families.

Condition

The three untouched homes are in impeccable condition: Reyes and his immediate family live in one home, and the other four families share the two others. The guards have fixed up one other home, but the final one is in poor shape, having been thoroughly scavenged, served as homes for squatters, wild animals, and exposed to the elements. The common area for the homes that contained three swimming pools, two hot tubs, and a tennis/basketball court have been overrun by nature.

Inhabitants

Carlo Reyes and his girlfriend share one home with his son Armando, his wife, and two children. The other familes are: Simpson (5 people), Guyette (3 people), Chaidez (9 people), and Alvez (2 people). Of the families, four men and one woman have completed MPD training.

Twelve rank-and-file guards are also permanently stationed at Whitefish, as both guardians and tenants of the settlement and the nearby inventory.

Whitefish is a well-stocked settlement and also well-secured. The solar cells keep the automated security system functioning, and the machine guns hidden among ivy atop the wall's towers can cut intruders in half; the machine guns on the opposite end of the community failed during the seige and are now inoperable. Within the homes are a few weapons but many high-end foods and other luxury items.
