Rivertown North is located directly above the downtown area of Rivertown Central and shares a short border with the Western Reaches. It is bounded to the north and most of its western border by the large area known as the Northwestern Reaches, and to the east by Lake Lawrence.
Rivertown North has historically been the home of the city's wealthiest citizens. Rather than the high rise buildings of the downtown area, Rivertown North features a mix of what used to be single family houses, low rise apartment complexes, commercial structures, and green spaces.
As the riots in downtown grew more frequent and severe, many inhabitants of Rivertown North barricaded their homes and stockpiled weapons in the event of mass looting. When the outrage and terror of the superflu was at its height, rioters set fires that spread rapidly, burning whole neighborhoods to the ground, stoning and shooting at the few firefighters who showed up to combat the blaze.
Rivertown North has a distinctly different feel than the other MPD-controlled areas of the city as it was less densely urbanized. Trees grew unchecked in the years following the apocalypse, giving portions of this area an almost forest-like feel. Though the area has been ransacked by looters, it is still viewed among scavengers as a worthwhile location for more thourough searching. Many buildings were structurally weakened during the blazes however, making them extremely dangerous places to enter for fear of floors collapsing or roofs caving in on the unsuspecting visitor.
This area of Rivertown is popular among scavengers due to its poor site lines, facilitating both hiding from pursuers as well as ambushing the unwary.
