Rudy was born to Augustus and Frederika Reichman and was, in his mother's words, a "naughty little boy who was always in trouble." As a child, Rudy was quick to grow bored and become easily distracted. He was a menace in his private schools. As a teen, the family was evacuated to the Rock for their own protection as the superflu and rioting tore the world apart, and where his father helped create the MPD, a fighting force intending to take back the city.
Even though his father had no intention of letting his only son go to war and possibly be killed, he required him to go through MPD training. Rudy graduated because of his name only, and was almost tossed out for laziness and insubordination on two different occasions. Rudy also happened to suffer a broken arm, widely rumored to be self-inflicted, just before the launch of Project Reclamation. Days before Project Unification was announced, Rudy claimed to be suffering from severe flu-like symptoms and was ordered to go to quarantine. When he emerged from treatment a year later, he excused himself from duty for poor physical shape due to his illness.
Rudy fills his time drinking expensive booze and surfing the Internet for archived sporting events, video games, and pornography until he drains the solar cells. He also makes passes at any woman he is not related to by blood. He is widely disliked by the guards; playing off a rumor that his sister Delia had been abducted by scavngers intending to ransom her, a note was allegedly found on the gates of Mansion Inn reading "PLEASE BRING BACK THE GIRL. TAKE RUDY INSTEAD."
Rudy is a bit of an arrogant, loudmouth, lout and one of his only saving graces is that he recognizes it himself. He has a painfully low sense of self-esteem and readily admits that he has attained the level of comfort he has not through work or innate ability, but rather through having been born to the right set of parents. His caustic wit knows no bounds and he endlessly lampooned the seriousness of the Four Families, including pointing out how the operation rests on the violent oppression of hobos and addicts, a comment that lead to he and father nearly coming to blows.
Buried deep under layers of sarcasm and bitterness, there is a serious (albeit seriously underdeveloped) thinker.
Rudy's only real goals are to live the most debauched life as possible. He eats poorly, smokes, and drinks as much wine and liquor as he can get his hands on. He also genuinely enjoys being a pain in the ass for his mother and the other members of the Four Families, thinking the whole organization is a terrible sham that will one day come crashing down around their ears. Until that happens, he intends to eat, drink, and be merry.
Rudy lives in Mansion Inn and rarely leaves, though he will head up to Whitefish with an armed escort if he's looking for a change of scenery. He also owns a Kytaki Turbo Sport Coup that he would race up and down the lakeshore path until he burned out the solar cells, which had a tendency to overheat when not accompanied with an alternate fuel.
Rudy has a fair grip on literature and history, basic math and science. He has numerous hobbies and started a dozen different musical instruments but followed through with none of them. He plays lots of video games when he can and is quite good at chess. He is physically deconditioned and slightly overweight. He has tried his best to forget everything he ever learned about guns and combat while at the Rock.
