Early life and family

Harold Stine was born in Evergreen, a small farming town in the middle of the state to parents who owned a Kwik 'N Go convenience store, where he worked with his sister as a child and young man. Restless after his high school graduation, Stine applied to the police academy in Rivertown for four consecutive years before finally being accepted. Upon graduating the academy, Stine could not secure a position within the department and had to work for an additional two years in convenience stores before finally landing a position with R&R Security. He married and his wife was expecting when the superflu took her life. To counter his grief, Stine committed himself to Augustus Reichman's Public Defense Squad operating out of the Rock, and then became a vocal leader of the nascent MPD.

Stine was known for his uncompromising leadership as a captain during Project Reclamation and at the end of the campaign was promoted to major, a position created for him. He played a leading role in the run up to Project Unification and was a strong advocate for the establishment of the Tombstone. As the highest ranking non-Family member of the MPD, he is responsible for the daily operations of the Rock, Summerland, Ol' Federal, the Tombstone, and Mansion Inn.

Disposition and traits

Stine is a humorless man with few interests outside his duties to the MPD, which he often finds overwhelming. He has an enormous closet filled with a personal supply of prescription-strength antacids and sleeping pills, both of which he uses on a daily basis. The stress of his job causes him stomach problems and he must keep to a strict, bland diet.

Goals and motivations

Stine is committed to the cause of the MPD, which he sees as securing the whole of Rivertown for MPD settlement. He views the various settlements under his jurisdictions as islands of safety afloat in a sea of chaos and evil. He has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to scavengers living in city and believes they should be handled with lethal force in all circumstances, even women and children. He views them as an infestation of vermin in an old home he's desperately trying to restore.

Stine viewed Augustus Reichman as a kind of demigod and is said that he took the old man's death harder than his own wife, Frederika, whom Stine has never cared for.

Primary residence

Stine's primary residence is a small but lavish suite in a separate dwelling from Mansion Inn on Reichman Estates.

Attributes and Abilities

Stine is physically strong but has low endurance and mobility. He is proficient, though not gifted, with a number of firearms and melee weapons. He is firm and direct in dealings and is comfortable both taking and giving orders.
