Early life and family

Lucien Nessman lived in Sauklund for most of his childhood and adult life, only moving to Rivertown in 2086 to help care for his wife's ill father. He worked for Seming Technology, a leader in security cameras. He was an acquaintance of Augustus Reichman, though the two men did not know each other well as Reichman worked with a previous sales rep for his security company. On chance, Reichman took Nessman's call as he was preparing his family to flee to the Rock and, almost as an afterthought, invited Nessman to join them.

Nessman dutifully followed Reichman to Summerland and served in Project Reclamation in a mostly administrative capacity. He was later rewarded for his service and high level of administrative ability by being promoted to captain and given the duty of managing the Tombstone.

Disposition and traits

Nessman is an archetypal "Yes man" who thrives in bureaucracies. He is well-enough liked and respected that those under his charge will take orders, but guards joke about him snapping to attention anytime his phone rings. There is also a running gag about how his facial expression mirrors that of any superior speaking with him in person, only on a five second delay.

Because he has no experience in police work or the military he feels somewhat of a fraud for holding such a high position within the organization. Still, he carried out his orders to the letter and keeps operations at the Tombstone running efficiently. In the public areas of the Tombstone he demands seriousness, even grimness, out of his guards in order to match the location's foreboding reputation. Behind closed doors however he is usually quite cheerful.

Goals and motivations

Nessman worries about making a mistake and being dismissed from his position and busted down the ranks, perhaps even as low as a rank-and-file guard, which he views as equivalent to a death sentence. As a result, he runs a tidy operation at the Tombstone and lends the atmosphere some of his anxious energy. His biggest fear is coming under a concentrated attack from scavengers as, while he has strong administrative skills, had no military leadership experience whatsoever. He often studies books of military strategy in hopes of gleaning something useful in case the Tombstone ever comes under attack.

Though he is greatful for his position, he would prefer a transfer to the captaincy of Ol' Federal.

Primary residence

Nessman spends the vast majority of his time at the Tombstone. He permits himself one half-day to spend with his wife, who lives in a deluxe suite at Mansion Inn because she finds the dreary confines of the Tombstone to be "unihabitable."

Attributes and Abilities

Nessman is very good at reading people and understanding where they're coming from, which is why he was an excellent salesman. He has high levels of empathy and expression, and is clever and witty. He has no combat skills to speak of, other than the basic know-how of how to fire a weapon.
