<GM 16:30> Welcome to Le Grande Experiment! Partial disclosure: we're running SIX campaigns simultaneously this afternoon (Trent has 3, Bryce has 3) and you've all logged into your own private rooms per our email earlier this week. The GMs are going to be keeping you posted as best you can but you might want to have a book or iPhone handy as there may be gaps as we work out what exactly is happening. Remember that three dots [...] means hang on, there's more text coming. PLEASE KEEP CHATTER TO A MINIMUM. This is going to be difficult enough to manage without sorting through all kinds of cutesy emoticons and jokes. We can joke about it later, if it all works. Also try to keep questions to a minimum. When you need to roll we will tell you what attributes to check, so don't ask: we'll tell you. And while you're waiting, have your stats sheet handy and try to get into character and think about what you would do next. Remember your long pauses are action for someone else, so just hang in there. And without further adieu we'll get going...
<GM 16:33> So the swap has started. People have steadily been filing in, way more than usual. Instead of the normal 15 or so people it's easily twice that with more coming in. Women and children too, not just the lone scavenger. There are definitely a handful with the telltale bloodshot eyes and nervous twitching that define a rundown junkie. Since there is no established order, everyone is milling around a little waiting for someone to make the first move. And then she does: using Bob for support, Delia stands on top of broken concrete pylon and begins speaking--or perhaps rather preaching--to the established crowd that their lives are difficult under the abuses of the current regime controlling Rivertown. She calls for people to form a new social contract, where everyone has each others back, and where success and hardship can be enjoyed and endured communally...
<GM 16:34> Most of the people are looking at her with seriously confused expressions--no one expected this. There are a couple skeezy rundown junkies who are really irritated by this and they start shouting for her to shut up and asking who has rundown to trade. One starts brandishing a handgun and a few more draw weapons too. By the crazed looks in their eyes you know that a gun could go off at any minute. So... what do you do? [start playing now!]
<ET 16:36> I'll stay alert and look for trouble. If it looks like anyone is going to shoot at Delia, I want to be ready to tackle her from where she's standing and shield her.
<GM 16:38> OK
<GM 16:40> Otto is trying to leave and wants Jackal to come with him. She doesn't want to, and she stands closer to you.
<ET 16:40> Is he being forceful or anything? I don't want them to distract me from watching the guys with the guns."
<GM 16:41> No, he's nervous and wants to go. She wants to stay. More small time bickering than a big blow out.
<GM 16:42> Otto leaves, pissed off. Argument w/rundown heads continues but Devlin of all people has stepped in to try and settle things down. Surprisingly it seems to be working…
<GM 16:46> Hang in there...
<GM 16:54> Shit goes haywire pretty fast. While Devlin seemed to calm down the junkies, in a flash everything changes. These shadows charge in and club down all the scavengers and anyone who appeared to be holding a weapon or near an exit. After a split second of shock passes, you see that they're fully armed, fully armored MPD guards. They've pointing rifles and telling everyone to put their hands up.
<ET 16:54> SHIT! Otto was right.
<ET 16:54> I put my hands up and as quietly as possible take a step closer to Delia. I will keep looking for an escape route.
<GM 16:56> OK. There's a hostage situation. One junkie grabbed a girl and is threatening to kill her.
<GM 16:57> A female MPD guard is shouting at him to throw the gun down or they're going to open fire and kill them both.
<ET 16:57> I keep easing toward the exit, if that's possible. Don't want to attract attention.
<GM 16:59> She's shouting that she's going to gun him down like a dog and he finally chucks the gun down. But…
<GM 17:00> A grenade flies through he window. Roll DEX + ALERT. Need two successes.
<ET 17:00> Damn."
<ET 17:01> [ 5 2 3 3 7]
<ET 17:01> Shit
<GM 17:01> Only one success. You're hit.
<GM 17:01> You feel a searing pain in your right arm. Downgrade your health to injured. -1 on all rolls
<ET 17:02> GDI
<ET 17:02> Can I get outta there?
<GM 17:02> Yes. Head for the door. WIT or PER + DODGE.
<ET 17:03> PER + Dodge.
<ET 17:03> [ 8 1 6 9 3 ]
<ET 17:03> Shit! Didn't make it.
<ET 17:04> Wait yes I did. One success
<GM 17:04> Okay, good enough. You make your way out and see Delia looking like a frightened animal. Bob's laying face down next to her."
<ET 17:05> I grab her and get the hell outta ther.
<GM 17:06> You're out on the streets running.
<ET 17:07> Free at last, free at last, thank God almighty we are free at last!
<GM 17:10> Can you pick back up in awhile? The group part is kind of over for now 4U. Call ur cell?
<ET 17:12> Yeah. I might run out in a bit but should be back around 7
<GM 17:12> K, I will call u. Bye
