USER GM HAS LOGGED ON
<GM 17:02> Hi. Ready start?
<ET 17:02> Yes! Got a drink and some Twizzlers. Let's go.
<GM 17:03> Okay. I gotta cut and paste something.
<GM 17:03> So you've been slumming by yourself for the past 10 days since Emilee's tragic death on the beach. Your back is full of jack still but low on food, which is something of a problem. You haven't been terribly lucky scavenging lately (did some dice rolling OOG) and you've been a little reluctant to see other people, even if they look friendly. Obviously you're still pretty shocked about Emilee. You've wandered from the north side of town down to the central part and then, just for kicks, you crossed the bridge over into the western reaches (all dice rolls OOG). So we pick up with you walking around late morning, stomach growling, near the old expressway.
<ET 17:05> The western reaches? Really?
<ET 17:05> Why would I go over there?
<GM 17:05> U felt like shaking it up.
<ET 17:05> I thought I stayed to the north
<GM 17:06> (or I rolled a 98 on the percentile dice for random direction, take your pick)
<ET 17:06> Ah. Blame the dice.
<GM 17:06> Exactly.
<ET 17:07> Okay, so what do I see? Anyplace to scavenge?
<GM 17:08> (rolling, looking at map)
<GM 17:09> Ok, most of the area you're in looks pretty badly burned and dangerous to go into. Lots of cave ins.
<GM 17:09> There's something that looks like a convenience store nearby, lots of burned out cars in the parking lot, or you could head up the next block.
<ET 17:10> I'll check out the convenience store.
<GM 17:10> It's a trashed convenience store that looks picked clean, but it's worth a closer look. How many dots in survival?
<ET 17:10> Four.
<GM 17:11> Fire away! 7s or better succeed.
<ET 17:11> [ 7 9 1 5]
<ET 17:11> BOOYAH! What do I find?
<GM 17:12> (rolling)
<GM 17:13> You check out a tipped over Coke machine and don't find anything but then, sitting against the wall like someone put it there and forgot, is a machete. It's in decent shape.
<ET 17:13> Score
<GM 17:13> But there's bad news too. From out in the street you hear a barking dog. And some voices.
<ET 17:14> How far?
<GM 17:14> Near
<ET 17:14> Can I get out?
<GM 17:15> Dunno. Can you?
<ET 17:16> What else is in the store?
<GM 17:16> Empty shelves. A counter. And a door that leads to a small office.
<ET 17:17> I hide in the office and shut the door.
<GM 17:17> The door doesn't shut so well. Bad hinges.
<GM 17:17> Just about then you hear the dog's toenails clicking on the tile.
<ET 17:18> Shit. I don't make a sound.
<ET 17:18> Do I roll for stealth or anything?
<GM 17:19> No, you can't hide anymore than you are. It's a tiny office with a big desk. Too crowded to move much.
<ET 17:20> Is there another exit?
<GM 17:20> A small window. Looks painted shut.
<GM 17:20> Voices now from outside. At least three, maybe more.
<GM 17:21> Not friendly sounding. Crazy sounding. Said something about a shotgun
<ET 17:22> !!!!!!!
<GM 17:23> What do you do?
<ET 17:24> What are theydoing?> and the dog?
<GM 17:24> Looking around the place. They'll get to the office sooner than later.
<ET 17:25> I'm going for the window.
<ET 17:25> Can I shove the desk in front of the door.
<GM 17:26> Sure. No roll needed. But that window...
<ET 17:26> Yeah?
<GM 17:27> Roll strength.
<ET 17:27> Can I wedge it open with the machete
<GM 17:28> Good call. Need a 6. You've got two dice.
<ET 17:28> [8 7]
<ET 17:28> YES! I'm freaking out!
<GM 17:29> Okay, the window is open but they heard you. They're at the door now.
<GM 17:30> Youre climbing out? Roll agility. Need a 6.
<ET 17:31> [6 2]
<ET 17:31> GAH! so effin close
<GM 17:32> You're out! in an alley
<ET 17:32> Gonna have a heart attack
<GM 17:33> They're shouting, coming around the builinding
<ET 17:33> I'm running!
<GM 17:34> Which direction?
<ET 17:36> AWAY!
<ET 17:36> duh
<GM 17:37> Fair enough. I'll roll...
<GM 17:38> Okay, you hear someone shout stop when you're exiting the alley.
<ET 17:39> I keep running
<GM 17:40> You hear a shot...
<ET 17:40> Can I dodge?
<GM 17:41> You COULD have...
<GM 17:41> too late now
<GM 17:41> you're hit
<GM 17:41> rolling damage
<ET 17:42> cmon
<GM 17:43> OK, as you're running you feel a shove from behind, like someone pushing your shoulder
<GM 17:43> And you feel a searing pain on the top of your left shoulder
<ET 17:45> Can I keep running?
<GM 17:46> Yes. You were tagged but the damage is superficial. Keep running? Any direction?
<ET 17:47> Still away!
<GM 17:47> Okay wait, I rolled another random encounter...
<ET 17:47> screw off
<GM 17:48> As you cross the street you pass a couple people scavenging around in a few old cars and a dumpster
<ET 17:49> Are they trying to stop me?
<GM 17:49> By the time they notice you're already past them
<ET 17:50> Am I still being chased?
<GM 17:51> Do you stop to look?
<ET 17:51> No but I'm looking for a getaway
<GM 17:52> Roll perception. Let's set the bar at 8. You're running.
<ET 17:52> Erik's got four dots.
<ET 17:53> [ 4 6 5 9 ]
<GM 17:54> As you wheel around the corner into another alley you see a fire escape that leads to a secondstory window.
<ET 17:55> Do I need to roll for it?
<GM 17:55> Let;s say no
<ET 17:56> Okay, I climb it with a glance bakc, if I can
<GM 17:56> You can't unless you want to stop
<ET 17:57> NO
<GM 17:57> You clamber up through the escpae and fly through the window
<ET 17:58> YES!!!
<ET 17:58> So I'm safe? Are they behind me?
<GM 17:59> (rolling)
<GM 17:59> No and no
<ET 18:00> Wait. what?
<GM 18:01> You jump through the window and you hear the racking of a shotgun.
<GM 18:01> Someone's pointing a double-barrell down your nose
<ET 18:02> They got inside the building?
<GM 18:02> No, it's someone else.
<GM 18:02> But let's stop there
<ET 18:03> Damn you!
<ET 18:03> :)
<GM 18:04> Get your story in, okay? Should be fun writing.
