<ET 18:03> I'm here. Shitty day at work. Can't wait to start.
<GM 18:04> This might be a little different tonight. Remember you dove through that window and were held up at gunpoint?
<ET 18:04> Yup. This isn't going to be a really short session, is it?
<ET 18:04> D:<
<GM 18:05> LOL we'll see
<GM 18:05> Start by reading a couple compendium entries.
<GM 18:06> <http://tinyurl.com/6mwvgop>
<GM 18:06> and <http://tinyurl.com/6tajl8v>
<GM 18:07> Let me know when you're done
<ET 18:14> Okay
<GM 18:14> More reading.
<GM 18:15> You're being held hostage by a man who introduces himself as Devlin. He lives in a corner of what used to be the Rivertown Public Library, which was the window you leaped through. The place looks very dangerous, with much of the ceiling fallen down and other big chunks hanging down at precarious angles. He warns you that the whole place is booby-trapped and even if he let you go, you'd could kill yourself a dozen different ways just walking to the exit. He guides to an exposed staircase and has you swing from a pole to get to the stairs because the floor is a trap. When you climb the stairs you find a small room with a couple full bookshelves, some with food, others with books in good condition. Devlin has you kneel in the center of the floor while he sits on a couple mattresses he's stacked up. He tells you to start telling your story.
<GM 18:15> Go.
<ET 18:18> Okay.
<ET 18:18> I tell him the truth. I tell him I come from the country and have been scrounging around Rivertown trying to survive.
<GM 18:19> He takes your bag and opens it up. He wants to know what's in the vials.
<ET 18:19> Can I stop him from taking it?
<GM 18:19> Not really. He's pointing a shotgun at your face.
<GM 18:20> Care to try?
<ET 18:20> No
<ET 18:20> I tell him about the jack. what it does.
<GM 18:21> All caps means dialogue. Let's try it.
<GM 18:21> THIS STUFF MAKES YOU FEEL FUNNY IN THE HEAD? YOU ON THIS SHIT SON?
<ET 18:21> lol
<ET 18:22> UM, NOT ANY MORE. I HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH IT.
<GM 18:22> HOWD YOU GET SO DAMN MUCH OF IT?
<ET 18:23> I FOUND IT.
<ET 18:23> ON A DEAD GUY. AROUND THE TOMBSTONE.
<GM 18:24> Lying? Roll Manipulation.
<ET 18:24> shit
<ET 18:24> it's not good.
<ET 18:24> two dots
<ET 18:25> what am I doing?
<ET 18:25> [ 4 5 ]
<ET 18:25> shit!
<ET 18:26> he's going to shoot me in the face
<GM 18:26> He frowns. You can tell he doesn't believe you.
<ET 18:27> shit
<GM 18:27> He doesn't say anything else though. He pulls out the reader and examines it.
<ET 18:28> I tell him what it is
<GM 18:28> I KNOW WHAT IT IS! WHAT DO I LOOK LIKE, SOME BLEEDIN' IDIOT?
<ET 18:29> lol
<GM 18:30> He stares at you, real hard. TELL ME SON, WHAT IN HERE HAVE YOU READ?
<ET 18:32> What have I read?
<GM 18:32> Are you asking me?
<ET 18:33> Yes
<GM 18:33> I don't know. What do you think Erik has read?
<ET 18:35> UM, A BUNCH OF GAMBLE NOVELS?
<ET 18:35> (rolf)
<GM 18:36> He doesn't look impressed. Hold on a second...
<GM 18:40> So he starts going off on what sounds to your untrained ear like political philosophy and how those principles will dictate how he's going to deal with you. He's talking about how the apocalypse was the great equalizer, where in the state you find yourselves now each man (and he uses the word "man") has the amount of power and resources according to his ability. He's talking about this as though digging throught the wastes and risking your life every minute is a kind of utopia.
<ET 18:43> Oh christ, he's not a libertarian is he?
<ET 18:43> just my luck (lol)
<GM 18:45> Anyway. :)
<GM 18:47> He doesn't think it woudl be just or right to strip you of your possessions, but he does think you're in his debt for not killing you. For tresspassing or breaking and entering or something. He doesn't specific.
<GM 18:48> *isn't specific.
<ET 18:49> I think I hate this guy.
<ET 18:49> LOL
<GM 18:49> WHAT ARE YOU LAUGHING AT?
<GM 18:49> (kidding);)
<ET 18:49> (roflmao)
<GM 18:51> I'M GONNA GIVE YOU TWO OPTIONS: ONE, GIVE ME THAT READER AND WE'RE SQUARE. YOU WALK FREE. OR TWO, YOU AND I GO TO THE SWAP AND YOU TRADE YOUR DRUGS AND WHATNOT FOR ENOUGH FOOD AND SUPPLIES TO CLEAR YOUR DEBT.
<ET 18:52> I'm not giving this jackass my reader. What's the swap?
<GM 18:52> Um, you don't know.
<ET 18:53> (sigh) I DON"T WANT TO GIVE YOU MY READER. BUT WHAT's THIS SWAP OF WHICH YOU SPEAK?
<GM 18:53> He looks at you a little funny.
<GM 18:54> And then explains it more or less like this <http://tinyurl.com/7cu5c4m>
<ET 18:56> OPTION TWO!
<ET 18:56> PLEASE!
<ET 18:56> :)
<ET 18:56> When is it?
<GM 18:57> First of the month. In a couple days.
<ET 18:57> So what do we do until then?
<GM 18:58> Chat.
<GM 18:58> :)
<ET 18:59> >.<
<GM 18:59> And with that, they were done! Until next week.
<ET 19:00> Why do I feel like Erik is jumping from frying pans into fires?
<GM 19:00> Just so you know, we're trying to arrange it so there are a bunch of us playing at the same time.
<ET 19:01> Sounds good
<GM 19:01> Running a bunch of different scenarios in different windos
<GM 19:01> Should be wild
