from: theellen645 STARTING POINT But basically the whole place blew up with us in it. Rather than simply walking out the way we came, we had to navigate a blazing maze and not everyone made it. We lost one man inside, who had suffered from serious wounds from the previous skirmishes and explosions. We also were slowed down by our captive, who moved lethargically and like she didn't recognize the danger. Poor rolling slowed us down as we navigated the maze but we finally, finally made it out alive. And of course we emerged to a driving, freezing rain. It is October after all. Two of the guards were nursing injuries, the extent of which Bryce (the GM) wouldn't pinpoint for me, but he did say one was in "a very bad way." This slowed us down as the healthy members of the team had to stop and help the wounded ones, and the prisoner wasn't keen on moving too fast. The darkness and the weather didn't help either. And then to top off a perfect night, we were ambushed by scavengers, or at least by who we thought were scavengers. We were crossing the Juneau/Milwaukee river back to the east side and got hit hard. The whole crew got broken up. I almost got hit (I think Bryce fudged his roll a little) but went under and got separated from the rest of the crew. Then I spent a lot of time dodging and sneaking. Again, lots, and lots, an LOTS of dice rolling! (Too much of teh dices!) But at the end I sneaked (not snuck) back to Tombstone before daybreak but I had no idea what happened to the rest of the crew. Ellen was admitted to the infirmary wing to recover her health. That's where she found out, to her relief, that Delia had been delivered to Mansion Inn. Apparently the guard was badly wounded and delirious and overshot Tombstone to the north, then followed the lakeshore path down to the mansion. The end result was Ellen being safely back at the Tombstone and awaiting what happens next. Out-of-game (OOG) I'm beginning to question my approach to playing and my character creation. I thought I wanted lots of combat and action but it turns out that this translates to lots of dice rolling and I'm not really learning anything about my character. We spent a lot of time--both in game and in reality--on one combat-heavy mission. Bryce and are going to talk about this next session and hopefully my character can begin to contribute to a more interesting plot. Cheers!

We started where we left off last week, in the fourth level underground in a top-secret sub-lab where my crew, nursing a few wounded guards, found a woman claiming to be the heiress Delia Reichman. Our mission was to escort her back to the Tombstone. Sounds simple enough...
