Prairieville is located 30 miles to the southwest of Rivertown Central and 20 miles south/southeast from Sweetwater.
Prairieville was a small city of approximately 16,000 citizens, according to the 2080 census, down from 20,000 in 2070. It had served as a bedroom community for Rivertown, but as the economy tanked and jobs dried up, so did Prairieville. Unemployment hit 19% in 2088, just before the onset of the superflu.
Prairieville escaped the riots that swept through Rivertown. In the wake of the superflu, many surviving residents fled to parts unknown bringing their valuables with them; others remained in the city that then resembled a ghost town. Cut off from other communities, the residents of Prairieville did not learn of the violent looting occurring in the neighboring communities until it arrived on their own doorstep. An armed and violent band of looters wreaked havoc on the town in 2089, murdering many of the remaining citizens setting fires to establishments as part of a scorched earth policy.
Prairieville is bisected by a county highway. The southeastern half of the city is mostly cinders and ash, having been burned in the raid of 2089; the northwestern half is largely intact structually but empty and abandoned. Though most buildings and residences were thoroughly looted, a few dozen private dwellings with high-end security systems remain untouched.
The population of the city dropped from 16,000 to less than 4,000 between 2075 and 2088; by 2090 less than a few dozens remained. It exists in 2113 as mostly a ghost town, though random scavengers may be encountered.
A quick sweep through the city would turn up very little in terms of scavenger, though a more systematic search would likely turn up all manner of goods: weapons, supplies, food. There are also several homes that likely have decent quantites of weapons, food, and supplies, if one could get past the security systems.
