Location

The faming community is located approximately 30 miles northwest of downtown Rivertown. It is set back from major roads and blends well into the surrounding scenery.

History

Aztalan Farms started as a small family dairy farm belonging to the Spooner family. In the early days of the superflu epidemic, the Spooners closed their gates and shut out all visitors, threatening to shoot anyone attempting to cross their barbed wire fence. This included their closest neighbors, who were required to wait for five days outside the gate without showing any flu-like symptoms before gaining entry. In total a dozen families were admitted over a period of six months, with the last family entering in late October of 2088. The families, in order of their arrival, were: Gollin, Anselin, Peacock, Mulroy, Torreon, Cappello, Nader, Collard, Rudman, and Sukurov.

Most other small farms in the community were either infected by the flu or overrun and pillaged by roaving bands fleeing the city. The families quickly went about building stout walls and reinforcing the fences with coils of barbed wire to prevent any illegal entry. Within the community, they planted sustainable foods and practiced animal husbandry with the few cows, pigs, and chickens they owned communally.

Condition

aztalan Farms is in excellent condition, though the family lodgings are sparse. The families agree to a strict food regimen so they may sustain themselves and are quick to cure and preserve any excess food that is not consumed, which has been necessary during harsh winters and bad growing seasons.

Inhabitants

Aztalan Farms has 34 members, ranging from age 5 to 87. Population control is a tense subject as the inhabitants recognize that the farm will only be able to sustain that many people for so long. Those of the younger generation have also grown weary of their self-imposed isolation and question the need to maintain strict quarantine when they see so few travelers.

Contents

Aztalan Farms has only two hunting rifles and limited ammunition. They have many farming and gardening tools such as scythes, picks, and hoes as well as many kinds of knives and cutting tools. In the communal cellars there is a decent supply of food, both fresh and preserved.
