The handguns in Rivertown are generally either revolvers (feeding ammunition via a rotating cylinder) or pistols (feeding amunition through a magazine in the grip) with the latter being far more common and the former being fairly rare.
Handguns tend to be relatively light and easily concealed.

While it's uncommon to find a handgun through scavenging, Rivertown has no shortage of these weapons. In the years of social unrest in the 2070s and through the 2080s, long-standing handgun laws were relaxed to the point of irrelevancy and gun manufacturers flooded the market with a wide range of inexpensive handguns that used either .45mm or 9mm ammunition. Handguns and ammunition could be purchased at most convenience stores and even some supermarkets. Retail stores offered a wide variety of handguns and ammunition.
